At Goldhill Quarry in North Wiltshire Cotswold stone slates or tiles are extracted from the Jurassic, Forest Marble beds.  Forest Marble is the most common limestone roofing source and was formerly worked from Dorset to Oxford.  Today only a few delves still produce this traditional roofing material.

The Jurassic, Great Oolite Group which contains the Forest Marble Formation
