Figure 102 At Harden Clough south of Holmefirth the Rough Rock and Rough Rock Flags produced huge slabs, sometimes called covers, and supplied all the major towns of the region. The size of the slates and quality of the rock was so good the delves were named Magnum Bonum Quarry, Ne Plus Ultra Quarry and Nonpareil Quarry (Terry Hughes). |
